EMPLOYMENT

Thanks for your interest in being an independent contractor with Flambeaux Bicycle Tours! We are currently looking for folks with personality that have a knack for storytelling. Needless to say, but an abundant love for New Orleans is a must!

As a small business that thrives on reputation, we are looking for folks that enjoy interacting with people of various cultures, that take care to have a neat appearance, and have good hygiene. We cater to manageable small groups of up to 10 people, which provides a more personable experience.

TOUR GUIDE

At Flambeaux we seek to give a well rounded history of New Orleans. We don’t give our guides a script, we allow them to develop their own tour so long as they visit the area’s described in the tour description of the tour they’re giving. We emphasize the full history of New Orleans and don’t shy away from sharing about Bulbancha, Juan San Malo, the Haitian Revolution, and the New Orleans Massacre of 1866…along with La Salle, Bienville, and Jean Lafitte. If it should arise, vampires and ghost are contextualized as folk lore.

Bicycle guides must know how to fix a flat tire. If the applicant doesn’t posses this knowledge training will be provided.

Our bicycle tours are 3 hours long. The guide must have a current tour guide permit and be capable of doing our Downtown tour, Uptown tour, and Mid-City tour. The guide will be required to come in 30 minutes prior to the tour to set up, and clean equipment after the tour. We pay on a sliding scale based on how many people you have on the tour you're giving. We won’t operate a tour unless we have a minimum of 2 people and typically max out at 10. The pay scale is:

2 people = $80 + tips

3 - 10+ people = $100 + tips
