Rain or shine

When our patrons inquire about the weather, I can often hear their voice break a little on the other side of the phone and ask with a tad of anxiety “did you just say we would ride rain or shine ?”

Well, yes. And no.

Our policy is to put the ball in the court of the guests and offer the three following options :

• Do the tour if the weather’s not severe

• Reschedule

• Be refunded

One thing I’ve learned since moving to New Orleans is that the weather is very unpredictable… and so are bikers!

We’ve had beautiful weekends when no one seemed to want to rent a bike, and weekdays with pouring rain and people coming for rentals despite a terrible forecast.

The same goes with our tours. We have people calling 3 days in advance, a little concerned about the rain to come, and others showing up with an umbrella and a big smile, ready to take the tour whatever the weather!

Staying true to our “rain or shine” policy, we sometimes end up having to pull out the rain ponchos or find shelter in a coffee house. We’ve been told this make wonderful memories!

(And yes, absolutely, you can keep the poncho!)
